30 minutes

I woke up early for a doctor's appointment because school was canceled due to the "FORECASTED ARMAGEDDON OF WINTRY MIX" I was thinking that since this forecast said that the "wintry mix" would not start until this afternoon I would be safe for my medical screening exam at 0930.

but NOOOOOOO

While I am taking a shower the phone rings and I get a voice mail. I have now been canceled on TWICE by this doctor's office due to FORECASTED WEATHER. I don't have to worry about flunking out of nursing school because I am not going to be able to go forward because I can't get a medical screening exam for school for clinicals. It's my own damn fault, I thought I could get a little help with this through work. Nope. Then I waited until I got medical insurance then I got "squeezed" in at the last minute. One of the few times in my life something important gets pushed back and I'm pretty much fucked.

Hey fate....I sincerely apologize for being busy with life and school but cut me a damn break and get me into the doctor's office for this expensive, stupid, cursory medical screening exam. Oh and fate while you're at it cut this shit out, I'm just starting nursing school and already I'm tired of being fucked with.

Seriously can everything go right soon? Because I'm very tired of nearly everything being fucked even though I am working my ass off.

Sigh...double sigh...times like these make me want to pack everything into the truck and move back to Colorado and become a MTB/cycling bum all over again.

Snow Daze

Awwww jeez we're suppose to get a smattering of snow in Mid-Georgia starting tomorrow afternoon. They've already canceled classes for the next TWO days! I think I am the only person who is upset because it screws up the schedule in nursing school.

Right now as I type this everyone in the state is going ape shit over a dollop of FORECASTED "wintry mix". There is a run on kerosene, bread and milk because ya know it's like the Donner Party when the weather folks predict snow. On the up side at least we'll get to see a bit more of the striking weather forecaster on the local news.

At least I'm not working.

Since there is a small reprieve from the grind of nursing school I did take the chance to get the red and black Giant road bike's tires pumped up. Hopefully I will feel the motivation to get on it soon. I need to because I weigh a lot and when we checked my pressure last week during check offs for school it was WAY high at 160/102! I had an instructor tell me that I need to be on BP meds ASAP. A discussion ensued after that particular conversation with a class mate about having a competition between us to see if we could get our high BP down by 5%. The bet is for a six pack of the winners choice of beer. What he does not know is that I may considering cheating by taking half a nitro.

Now now before my 3 readers start flapping their arms in alarm, I will state for the record that I know it's dangerous and that's the reason I am CONSIDERING it. Man it's for a sixer of beer what do you expect? A man has to have priorities. Anyways That's it for the time being. I hope everyone is better than me at least. Thanks for reading.

Has anyone heard of....

Ricer a power trio outta the A-T-L:

In all likelihood I'm a couple of years late with these guys but see my head has been in the sand a lot lately. I heard them via WREK on the truck's radio today after coming back from getting Mom's groceries.  It's one of the few times I actually listen to the radio now cause I'm constantly listening to recordings of lectures and medically related stuff.

I was impressed enough to at least write down the name of the song then run in the house and call the station and ask who this band was. I've found out very little. Last show I could see that they played was back in 2012.

So if anyone knows these cats or has a recording of "#2's" let me know,  I'd like to hear more. Alrighty, now it's time to put my head back into the sand and get to on dosage calculations.

Done because of school

I shaved my beard again. Not because of any silly new years resolution or some silly woman's demands. BUT because of school. I shaved it because I will be dealing with nurse types who expect some sort of professionalism. I'm used to dealing with veteran ED nurses who tend to not give a fuck and accept the beard.

But it's school and I'm trying like hell not to stand out "like a sore thumb on fire". I have shaved down to a Zappa:

In hopes of keeping the facial hair ready for the Summer of Beard '14. If I am told I have to be clean shaven I will not be happy.

Other quick things. I have worked full time hours for the entire month of December. Which meant I spent a lot of time with Mom for the month. It was not bad and I actually kind of liked it. I did get the wheel trued on the voodoo FINALLY. I'm contemplating going for a ride before the start of the semester.  Because heavens knows I won't have time once school starts.
